SLOTH SANCTUARY + BUTTERFLY GARDEN

The sanctuary was born through cooperation with the Caribbean Sloth Sanctuary, who have been working at it for over 20 years. They’ve designed a natural exhibit where sloths can travel freely between paths specially created so that they can roam among the trees and foliage of the exhibition. This provides a safe distance that allows observation while preventing as much stress on the animals as possible.

Selvatura Park offers one of the largest butterfly gardens in the Americas, with an area of 300 feet long by 90 feet wide and 50 feet tall, a great dome structure covered by a special structure that helps control the temperature inside the garden, which enables our garden to host more than 30 different species of butterflies from different altitudes and climates found throughout Costa Rica.

The garden can be visited for as long as one wishes, and access can be made at any time within the park's opening hours. Transportation is included into the price, and note that if you want to arrive on your own, the price is the same.

WHAT DOES IT INCLUDE? Access to Sloth Sanctuary and Butterfly Garden.  

WHAT SHOULD I BRING? Comfortable clothing, tennis shoes, jacket, a camera and water.

DEPARTURES FROM SELINA: 7:30 AM, 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 1:30 PM.

TOUR SCHEDULE: 8:15 AM, 10:45 AM, 12:45 PM and 2:15 PM. 

DURATION: 2.5 Hours + transportation.

**(1) Certain tour operators and shuttle companies require a minimum number of people to run the tour or transportation service. In the event that they do not meet this requirement, the tour will not be offered and we will work with you to book a different tour. (2) Tours may be canceled due to inclement weather, strikes, blocked roads, or any other reason beyond our control. (3) A client must cancel at least 48 hours in advance if they wish to cancel. Any reservation made less than 48 hours in advance must be canceled at least 8 hours in advance. (4) In the case of a cancellation by the tour operator, a refund will be offered to participating guests. (5) Selina is not responsible for any property or items lost during the tour. (6) For some tours / transportation / rental equipment, clients are required to sign a waiver at the Selina property. (7) The times in the descriptions are approximate times and are subject to change depending on availability and conditions.
